Brighton Drag Project
For prospective performers
Working project title: Both of Me
Thank you for considering taking part. This form is an expression of interest only: it does not commit you to the project. It will help demonstrate community interest as part of an Arts Council England funding application and help me understand how you might like to be involved.
I am developing a year-long photographic and audio project exploring Brighton’s drag community, identity, performance and the overlap between everyday and drag personas.
I plan to work with around 20–25 performers, photographing many participants several times across the year and recording relaxed conversations in which performers tell their stories in their own words.
The ambition is to create a Brighton gallery exhibition of 30–40 photographs with first-person audio, smaller displays in drag venues, a professionally designed photographic book and a dedicated project website.
If Arts Council funding is secured, each participating performer will receive a £100 honorarium and a copy of the finished book.
